Zotero Bibliographies
I use Zotero to organize my library, and I like to make bibliography folders for research heavy projects as I go. I find it useful to see other people’s bibliographies when starting a project, so I will post links to some of my folders here. I hope you find them useful!
This is a folder I created when working on a group of three silk parasols from around the turn of the 19th-20th century. They also had celluloid components, so you’ll find some info on that in there as well. The articles I found most useful are marked with a star.
From a project cleaning seven pieces of furniture upholstered with cotton velvet and covered with dark soiling. The method I ended up using was gently petting the pile with a slightly damp microfiber cloth wrapped around an eraser or soot sponge, adapted from the article marked with a star.
From a project that included five doll treatments. Dolls are hugely variable and can contain pretty much any material you can think of. An interesting practical tidbit from this project is that dolls with “sleep eyes” should be stored lying face down. This allows the weight at the end of their eye rocker (they look like this, sorry not sorry) to rest on a cork or felt pad at the front of the face. When the doll is lying on its back, the eye rocker weight is hanging in the center of the head, pulling the eyes down. There’s a lot less stress on all of the materials if the doll is face down.
Unfortunately this is slightly unsettling to imagine because that means the eyes are open while the doll is face down in storage.
